WeLab Bank: Phishing SMS alert (31 December 2024)

Hong Kong, 31 December 2024 – WeLab Bank (“the Bank”) would like to alert our customers and the general public of the following suspicious SMS, which is purportedly sent by the Bank. Please note that the Bank has no connection to the phishing message. We have reported the matter to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. As a participant in the SMS Sender Registration Scheme, WeLab Bank only uses the registered sender ID #WeLab.Bank when sending one-way SMS messages to mobile users. We would like to remind our customers and the public to always keep their login credentials secure. WeLab Bank will never send SMS or email containing embedded hyperlinks that direct customers to download or log in to the WeLab Bank app to perform transactions or request for sensitive personal information. Customers are reminded to visit our official website at https://www.welab.bank/en/ and ensure they are connected to our valid mobile app (WeLab Bank mobile app) through App Store and Google Play only. Do not click on any suspicious hyperlinks and stay vigilant against SMS from unfamiliar senders and bogus websites. If customers are concerned that they may have disclosed their personal information or have conducted any transactions through such channel, please report to the Police or the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) of the Hong Kong Police Force.
